Open University at CSU Bakersfield

Explore something new – or enhance your career!

The Open University program at CSU Bakersfield allows anyone not admitted to the university to enroll in CSUB courses. Open University students enroll with a number of different goals, including:

  • Satisfying a prerequisite requirement for graduate school
  • Adding a new skill for a job search or career advancement
  • Completing a particular course not offered or full at their home university
  • Prepping for a professional exam, such as the CPA exam
  • Exploring a personal interest
  • Raising GPA to become eligible to re-enroll as a main campus student

For the Fall 2020 semester, CSUB will be delivering most classes virtually – creating a unique opportunity for anyone outside of the Bakersfield area or anyone who needs the flexibility of online courses. Never before has CSUB offered so many courses online. With more than 400 courses with no prerequisites (and even more available if you meet the enrollment requirements), there is a course (or two) for everyone this fall at CSUB!
