Designed for K–12 teachers, the Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) degree emphasizes the core concepts of equity and educational technology integration to expand your knowledge and strengthen the confidence you already have to lead school reform, improve student learning and benefit the community at large.

How to Apply & Upcoming Deadlines
Application to the online M.A. in Education – Curriculum and Instruction program at CSU Bakersfield, requires the following:

Completed online application in Cal State Apply

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university

Valid teaching credential

Two C&I reference forms (instructions included in Cal State Apply application)

Statement of purpose (instructions included in Cal State Apply application)

Technology survey (included in Cal State Apply application)

One official hard-copy (unopened) or digital transcript from all colleges attended. Digital transcripts must be sent directly from the college attended to dptranscripts@csub.edu. Any transcript from a college / university outside of the United States will require a course-by-course analysis from a transcript evaluation services such as World Education Services (WES). See WES website for more details. Note: If you received your bachelor's degree from CSU Bakersfield, skip this step. You'll be contacted if any further transcripts are required.

Using Cal State Apply
Applications for the online M.A. in Education – Curriculum and Instruction program are submitted through the CSU Cal State Apply online application system. You can access and navigate the system using the following instructions:
- Visit www2.calstate.edu/apply. If you're a first-time user, you'll need to create an account. If you are a returning user, enter your credentials to get started.
- Choose the online M.A. in Education – Curriculum and Instruction program by clicking on the "Add Program" tab. Choose the CSU Bakersfield campus, then choose “Education-Curriculum and Instruction” as your program under the "Bakersfield Extension" heading.
- Complete each section of the Cal State Apply application. Sections 1, 2, and 3 contain general information about you and your education background. Section 4 houses questions specific to the online M.A. in Education – Curriculum and Instruction program, including the technology survey, statement of purpose, and additional documents referenced above.
- After you've completed each section, you can then pay your application fee and submit your final application.
Note that you do not need to complete all the sections in one session. The system will save your progress if you need to leave the application and come back to finish it later. If you have any questions about completing your application in Cal State Apply, please call Cal State Apply customer service at (857) 304-2087. Be sure to have your CAS ID number (located under your name in the upper-right corner of the application) when contacting customer service.

We offer start dates for three terms throughout the year. Please see the deadlines below for each term. Note: Applications submitted by the priority deadline will receive preference for inclusion in a particular term should we receive more admissions than slots available.
