Kristina LaGue, Ph.D.

Dr. Kristina LaGue is a Professor in Teacher Education and serves as Faculty in the Curriculum & Instruction, Master of Arts Program at California State University, Bakersfield. Dr. LaGue began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher in the Delano Union School District, which is where her passion for literacy began. Dr. Kristina LaGue received her Ph.D. in Language, Literacy, and Composition Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. 
 

Dr. LaGue has served in many leadership roles in her more than 20 years at CSU Bakersfield, including Department Chair of Teacher Education and Program Coordinator for the Reading and Literacy Added Authorization program and the Master of Arts program in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition, she has served as the Principal Investigator for several grant projects, most notably the Kern Rural Teacher Residency Program, which was the first teacher residency program in Kern County. Dr. LaGue was instrumental in building the foundation for teacher residency preparation in Kern County by working closely with districts to establish teacher residency program pathways. Her current research interests include literacy pedagogy and inclusivity in children’s literature.
