Project Management Certificate

The Project Management Certificate program is open to anyone with an interest in project management. The full sequence of courses are offered during the Fall and Spring semesters; it is recommended you complete all five courses if you do not have a background or knowledge in Project Management.

Those who have a background in Project Management may take just the courses à la carte (no certificate awarded).

Admission Requirements

• Interest in the program
• Completed application

If you wish to receive a certificate of completion, you must complete all five courses with a grade of "credit" in each course - all courses are graded on a credit/no credit basis and carry professional development units (PDU). These courses are not eligible to be applied towards a degree unless permitted by a university. To receive a grade of "credit" you must achieve a 70% or higher.

CSU Bakersfield Extended Education course hours can be applied towards the education requirements for Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI®). For more information about the PMP® certification from PMI®, please review the requirements on the PMI website.

Project Management Institute PMP® Requirements

PJMX 8010 Introduction to Project Management (1 CEU)

This course introduces the concepts, processes, and knowledge areas of projects.

PJMX 8020 Project Planning and Scheduling (1 CEU)

In this course, you will learn how to plan and schedule your projects using Microsoft Office Project.

PJMX 8030 Managing the Project Team (1 CEU)

Management of project teams is difficult because of the unique dynamics of a project team. This course emphasizes how improved communication in project teams can help achieve project success.

PJMX 8040 Project Procurement and Quality Management (1 CEU)

This course addresses how to procure quality goods and services for your projects. You will also learn how to implement quality management principles in your projects to help improve the quality of your products and services.

PJMX 8050 Project Ethics and Risk Management (1 CEU)

This course addresses the ethics involved in projects from the perspective of the PMI® Code of Ethics. You will also learn how to determine what risks may affect your project, how to assess the potential impact of these risks on your project, and how you can protect your project from these risks.

The Project Management Certificate fees are as follows:

• PJMX 8010 - Introduction to Project Management - $400
• PJMX 8020 - Project Planning and Scheduling using Microsoft Office Project - $500
• PJMX 8030 - Managing the Project Team - $400
• PJMX 8040 - Project Procurement and Quality Management - $400
• PJMX 8050 - Project Ethics and Risk Management - $400

The full course fee must be paid at the time of registration.

Note: Program is not eligible for FAFSA-based financial aid.

The Project Management Certificate program is completely online and housed in a program called Canvas. Canvas can be accessed through the main CSU Bakersfield website.  You will need a CSUB NetID and password.

How to login to myCSUB

1. Go to www.csub.edu
2. Click on myCSUB at the top right-hand side. If it’s your first time logging in, you’ll need to set your password by doing the following:

4. Follow the login guide provided on the page

Go back to myCSUB login page

Type in NetID that was provided to you by our office

(i.e. first initial, last name, # [if applicable])

Enter password you just created
