Student Spotlight: Mickey Cushine

Mickey Cushine recently completed the Occupational Safety and Risk Management program at CSUB and we asked if he would share a little about his experience in the program and how the program impacted his career and future goals. We’re delighted he was willing to share!

"My time in the Occupational Safety and Risk Management program at CSUB was one of the best times in my educational career thus far. I was able to explore a new found passion in an environment with other supportive, like-minded individuals. My professor, Tyler Payne, was a true inspiration and selfless leader who helped me dive into the world of workplace safety.

"Due to the amazing support and kindness of my colleagues and professor, I was able to achieve my first professional certification within two months of starting this program. This allowed me to get a sneak peek into the vast world of occupational safety, and risk management on a broader level. Although I finished the program this past December, I have continued to keep in contact with my professor and other classmates as we continue to push one another in the world of safety, both professionally and personally. I have made many close friends and colleagues through this program and I’m proud to say that it truly has changed my life.

"Due to the skills and connections acquired in this course, I received a job offer three weeks after completing the course program. This was due to a professional connection I made in the class and my own personal and professional growth in the safety industry.
