The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Certificate program consists of six courses and a culminating experience project (also referred to as a Capstone project) that is presented within the final course of the program. A grade of at least “C” in all courses and the completion of the Capstone project are required to receive an official GIS Certificate from CSU Bakersfield.
The GIS program also requires students to use Canvas, CSUB's online learning platform, which will require a reliable internet connection via your personal computer.
Personal computer requirement: This Certificate Program is 100% online, therefore the use of a reliable personal computer is required. Additionally, while not required, it is highly recommended that students obtain a personal computer that meets the requirements necessary to operate the ArcGIS Desktop software suite, including ArcGIS Pro version 2.7.1 or higher. Please review those computer system requirements at the link below before purchasing a new personal computer. The Windows operating system is required to use ArcGIS Desktop software.
