Certified Lactation Educators (CLE®s) are able to teach, support and educate people on breastfeeding and related issues. This certificate allows current healthcare professionals including RNs, dieticians, LVNs, pediatricians and obstetricians to expand their knowledge and provide an even greater level of care to their patients.
Certificate holders can pursue meaningful careers in hospitals, public health clinics, lactation centers, physical therapy practices, milk banks, medical practices, midwifery practices and private lactation consultant practices.
About the program:
This program is comprised of multiple units – each dealing with a specific area of relevance to the breastfeeding mother and her infant. The program meets five consecutive Fridays in a classroom setting and includes:
- 153-page booklet
- Case studies
- Breastfeeding laws & regulations
- Post-test study guide
- Participation in the community
- Online final exam
Everyone who completes the program will be recognized as a Certified Lactation Educator (CLE®).
