Library Services

Visiting the Walter W. Stiern Library at CSU Bakersfield

All Degree Programs students are entitled to library services at CSUB. The CSUB Library is open to the public, but only currently enrolled students can check out books or other library materials. A student identification card number (Runner ID) is required to check out materials. Before you visit our campus, please contact the Distant Services Library Assistant regarding policies and procedures for checking out materials.

Services for Online Students

There are many services which provide distant learners with access to library information. Your campus ID will allow you access to the electronic Library databases for semesters in which you are registered.

Research Assistance through the Stiern Library Distant Learner Services

As a Degree Programs student, you have full access to research services via the telephone and internet. Information will be mailed, faxed, e-mailed, or sent via UPS. These services include document delivery of selected magazine articles or book extracts, interlibrary loans, and reference assistance. Many of the services are available free of charge or for a nominal fee.

Visiting the College of the Canyons Library

Santa Clarita community members are welcome to use all College of the Canyons Library materials while in the library. Community members who are not eligible for a regular library card may request a SCILNET (Santa Clarita Interlibrary Network) card at their local public or school library. This temporary card entitles the holder to check out any materials that circulate to the COC students. For additional information, consult the COC Library Circulation or Reference desk.
